CRNA school GPA requirements

142 of the 151 accredited programs in our directory publish a minimum GPA. 117 set it at 3.0, 24 set a higher bar (up to 3.5), and 1 sets it lower. A minimum is the lowest GPA a program will consider, not the GPA of the people it admits. It also isn't always your overall GPA: of the 124 programs that say which coursework the minimum is calculated on, 37 use nursing coursework, recent credits, the most recent degree or upper-division courses. Every figure comes from the program's own admissions page, checked September 2026.

9 programs don't publish a minimum GPA: Case Western Reserve University Nurse Anesthesia, Cedar Crest College Nurse Anesthesia Program, Cleveland Clinic CWRU Nurse Anesthesia Program, Columbia University Nurse Anesthesia Program, Rutgers School of Nursing Anesthesia Program, University of Cincinnati Nurse Anesthesia, University of Louisville Nurse Anesthesia Program, University of Pennsylvania Nurse Anesthesia, and University of South Carolina Nurse Anesthesia. That doesn't make GPA optional there; there's just no stated cutoff to list, so ask the program. 18 programs publish a minimum without saying which coursework it's calculated on, shown below as "Not stated".

CRNA school GPA requirements — FAQ

What is the minimum GPA for CRNA school?

Most programs set it at 3.0: 117 of the 142 programs in our directory that publish a minimum use 3.0. 24 set a higher bar, up to 3.5. The lowest published minimum is 2.75, at Saint Mary's University Minnesota Nurse Anesthesiology. A minimum is the lowest GPA a program will consider, not a target, and it's calculated on different coursework at different schools, so confirm on the program's own page.

Is a 3.0 GPA enough for CRNA school?

A 3.0 meets the published minimum at 118 of the 142 programs that publish one. Meeting a minimum gets an application considered; it doesn't make it competitive on its own. Committees weigh GPA alongside science grades, ICU experience, the CCRN and the interview, so a GPA near the minimum puts more weight on the rest of the application.

Do CRNA programs look at science GPA?

43 programs in our directory publish a separate science GPA minimum, most often 3.0 (31 of them). Programs without a separate minimum can still look closely at your science prerequisites, and which courses count as science varies by school.

Which GPA do CRNA programs use?

It varies. Of the 124 programs that say which coursework their minimum is calculated on, 55 use all college coursework, 32 undergraduate coursework, 18 nursing degree coursework, 10 the last 60 credit hours, 3 the most recent degree, 2 either all coursework or the last 60 hours, 2 upper-division coursework, and 2 the last 60 hours of nursing coursework. If your early grades are your weakest, a program that checks nursing coursework or recent credits may see a stronger number.
